My Airsoft Journey in Japan

Today I want to talk about the closest official field for me in Kanagawa, OPS Field. I’ve been going there for over 10 years and it sure has changed a lot. The layout of the field hasn’t changed much with its bare top of the hill cqb style barricade areas and it’s bushier vegetated areas at the bottom of the hill. When it first opened there weren’t much in terms of facilities like tables and toilets but the staff and regulations were pretty relaxed and friendly. Then the staff got really strict for awhile and wouldn’t mind yelling at customers who broke rules by accident. I mean safety rules are important but some new players have to be eased into it and not just straight up yelled at. Luckily they must have gotten rid of those bad staff and they are now friendly again. Try to go there every month and it’s usually a good time with well behaved players and staff. I will say I do miss the longer games they used to have when they started. It went from 20 min games to now 7 minutes. I guess it isn’t a large field so longer games would get boring for some players who have to wait to rejoin or 1 team would dominate a match. I do go on weekdays sometimes with much smaller player counts. These days are for some hardcore regulars who are sharpshooters who can snipe you anywhere. Sometimes it gets annoying to die alot but it makes you change up your tactics and technique. Once you get into a groove it’s all good though.
I’ve also used this field as a place to field some of my loadouts I want to try out. I’ve gone there using WW2 gear, European camouflage, and stuff from movies likes Black Hawk Down and Lone Survivor. Last year I started doing WW1 doughboy loadouts that always turns heads with my 1903 rifle and Brodie helmet. In closing this field is always a good time. Sure I’ve been to bigger and more expansive sites but for me the staff that runs the games is just as important.
